Why plan a district heating network from APS?

At APS stage (schematic design), you lock in the pipe routing, boiler room location, silo and technical shafts. Changes after this stage are costly, because the construction phase adapts poorly to late modifications.

A collective system allows a centralized fuel choice, better emission values and less maintenance per dwelling. Architect and project owner gain independence from gas or oil.

  • The fewer dwellings on the network, the more critical the consumption variation estimate becomes.
  • Under-sizing forces costly oversizing; over-sizing extends burner cycles and lowers efficiency.

Which fuel and which output for a housing estate?

In Luxembourg, only pellets are Klimabonus-eligible. ENplus A1 pellets ensure consistent quality, moisture below 10% and a bulk density of about 650 kg/m³.

For a 30- to 80-dwelling neighborhood, typical output sits between 100 and 250 kW, often split into two modules for redundancy. A unified W/m² heat balance and a simultaneity coefficient are mandatory.

Klimabonus 2026: which grants for a district heating network?

For a collective building, the grant goes up to €6,000 per dwelling (cap €40,000). For a district heating network, the grant can reach €6,000 with a cap of €24,000. A buffer tank adds +15% and a solar thermal coupling adds a flat €1,000 bonus.
